Alphathon 2024


#Alphathon2024 was a quantitative finance competition, organized jointly by the Society of Quantitative Analysts SQA and the Center of Excellence in Wireless and Information Technology CEWIT at Stony Brook University!

The competition aimed to develop and evaluate cutting-edge forecasting solutions for financial industry professionals, utilizing the latest mathematical, statistical and machine learning techniques and alternative datasets.

148 Participants, in 77 Teams, were accepted among many more to compete in Alphathon 2024. But at the end, there could only be 1 winning team per Question!

Alphathon 2024 was a month-long quantitative finance online competition with in-person finals in New York City. It was open to graduate students, academics and industry professionals alike, able to attend the final in person in Manhattan if successful. Alphathon 2024 was designed for individuals eager to enhance their skills in quantitative finance and to engage with the latest advancements in technology and data analysis in the financial sector. Winners received substantial visibility in the industry, including the Question sponsors, SQA member investment firms and the broader Data Week. Individuals competed in teams of 1 - 6 researchers. Those interested in recruitment opportunities were able to opt in.


Questions

Alphathon questions were of real relevance to Hedge Funds and Asset Managers, and covered different areas of Quantitative Investment like Alpha Forecasting, Portfolio Optimization, dealing with Large, Alternative, Unstructured or High Frequency Data, Machine Learning and AI. Questions were provided and judged jointly by the SQA and our Question Partners:
